“Lessons from the Neglected Field” Proverbs 24:30-34

Engaging Illustration: “The Neglected Garden”

Imagine a garden that once thrived—vibrant flowers, lush greenery, and a protective fence keeping it safe. But over time, the gardener grew complacent. A day or two without watering turned into weeks. Weeds began to sprout. The flowers withered. The fence, once sturdy, started to collapse. Before long, the beautiful garden was unrecognizable—overtaken by thorns, vulnerable to intruders, and barren of life.

Now think about your own life. Just like the garden, neglecting your responsibilities—whether in your work, relationships, or faith—leads to disorder and decay. Small, consistent actions of care and diligence are what keep the “garden” of your life flourishing.

Application: Don’t let laziness or procrastination allow weeds to take over. Tend to the areas God has entrusted to you with diligence, prayer, and intention, trusting Him to bring growth and fruitfulness.

"Be Ye doers of the Word"

Chaplain shared a devotion based on James 1:22, emphasizing the importance of being a 'doer of the word' rather than just a 'hearer'.

He warned against the danger of building one's faith on sand, likening it to a sandcastle that collapses under the waves of life's challenges. He urged the congregation to evaluate their service and surrender to Christ, rather than just following a routine of religion.

Chaplain also encouraged the congregation to pray for guidance on where they need to surrender fully to Christ. He ended the devotion by asking if they were living as Christians, obeying God's word, and if not, to seek God's help in making a change.
